Laura, one of the group's fourth year PhD students, recently received the Pharmaceutical Journal's Women to Watch 2022 award. This award focuses on promoting the profiles of female leaders within pharmacy. The 2022 winners were invited to a reception at the House of Commons in April 2023 to network with other successful women in the field. Laura was selected for the award due to her work on the gut microbiome. Specifically, she has used new technologies (such as machine learning) to uncover interactions between gut microbiota and drugs, which could have a profound impact on patient care. She has collaborated with researchers in several countries, including France, Sweden, and the United States. Laura is looking forward to a career in the pharmaceutical industry in which she hopes to incorporate her interest in drug-microbiome interactions.
